Ooty is a town in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu, it is also known as Udhagamandalam. It is one of the most visited places in India. It is a popular tourist destination and the town is surrounded by many hills, which offer a good view of Ooty. Ooty is located at an altitude of 2,240 metres, and the town is known for its pleasant climate and scenic beauty.

1) Ooty Lake:

Ooty Lake is one of place of interest for tourists visiting Ooty. The lake is surrounded by crescent-shaped garden and the boating facilities are available on the lake. The Ooty Lake is spread across 24 acres and the maximum depth of the lake is 23 feet.

 2) Doddabetta Peak:

Doddabetta is the highest peak in Ooty at an altitude of 2,623 meters. The crescent-shaped Doddabetta peak is a popular destination for trekkers. A small cairn, which marks the summit of the Doddabetta peak is captivating and an awe-inspiring experience.

 3) Ooty Botanical Garden:

The Ooty Botanical garden is also popularly known as Garden of the Sleeping Giants it is spread across an area of around 900 hectares. This garden has more than 94 species of plants that are found in the misty mountain region of South India. The different species of plants are arranged in systematic order and some are useful to make cottons, dyes, essential oils and medicines.

 4) Coonoor:

Coonoor is situated at an altitude of 1,929 meters. The hills surrounding Coonoor are covered with cedar trees, which gives it a lush green look. It is the second largest town of Ooty and it is a popular stopover for tourists on their way to Ooty. The town offers some magnificent views of the Nilgiri hills.

 5) Lamb’s Rock:

Lamb’s rock is situated at an altitude of 2,097 metres, which is above sea level. Lamb’s Rock is a popular picnic spot surrounded by cedar trees and the view of the valley from the top of Lamb’s Rock is incredible.

 6) Dolphin’s Nose:

Dolphin’s nose is a 1,473-meter hill situated near Ketti and it is located around 32 km from Ooty. The Dolphin’s Nose offers a panoramic view of the valley and it is also known as Ketti Anai and it is a popular trekking destination.

 7) Avalanche:

Avalanche, which is at an altitude of 2,342 metres is a popular mountain peak located near Ketti. One of the most interesting features of Avalanche is that this peak offers some breath-taking views of the valley in the morning. It is also known as Pillar Rock, famous for rock climbing.
