Poetic tribute to Nilgiris

Nilgiris has wide range people visiting all over the year. Two most important women in the society returned back to Nilgiris one of the recent entrant to the Nilgiris and the other was a native and when the duo shared a stage at the 159 year old library they spoke with something sumptuous to ponder over the poetry front. The occasion was the launch of renowned poet Tanya Mendonsa illustrated poem which is ‘The Fisher of Perch’ and the conversation between her and another acclaimed poet Indu Mallah who accompanied her. Miss Mendonsa moved into the Blue mountain about four years ago after being educated in kolkata and spending about nearly two decades in Paris. Miss Indu who hailed from Badaga community of the Nilgiris has made a name for herself as a poet,author and social activist based on Ooty. Mendonsa pointed out that the long poem published in a book from took around three years to complete which in could make a great tribute to Ooty. She wrote about the river that “we have abused water and now we are paying a price for it”.She also narrated that next war will be over water. Ms.Mallah concluded by saying that poems conveyed the message which was very ‘live simply love deeply’
