Airports Authority of India (AAI) is trying to bring back helipads at Ooty and change them into heliports on the lines of the one in New Delhi. A senior official of AAI stated there is a program to bring back these helipads and later on convert them into heliports to be utilized for tourism, joyrides and also health care emergencies. The Union government is furthermore pushing for growing helipads in most states therefore air connection could be set up at remote locations.
