Elephants with their calves can now can enjoy free migration along the critical Elephant corridor in the Mudumalai Tiger Reserve(MTR) in the Nilgiris without any obstracle. This is because of the order from Supreme Court sealing around 27 luxury resorts that mushroomed along the route which is mostly used by the tourist to move freely and enjoy their time in the reserve forest. The lock and seal of luxury resorts affected many foreigners and also the neighbouring states including karnataka for their amazing view was completely on Nilgiris only. Supreme court order was the first step in ensuring prevention of urbanisation in reserve forest area as well as elephant corridor in the Nilgiris. This one of the biggest step towards prevention in Nilgiris Biosphere reserve which has seen much damage due to illegal construction. More than 15000 elephants walk their way to Bandipur and they follow the same route while returning to silent valley during the North West monsoon season. We can see hundreds of elephants at one place in MTR in evening time. The resorts and other buildings are just an obstruction for the elephants and to other wild animals but also led to conflict between animals and humans.
