Since most of the traffic signals and CCTV cameras in Ooty are totally dysfunctional over the last few months the Nilgiri district police have decided to repair all the broken equipment in the town. The District Superintendent of police D.Shanmuga Priya said that she had noted the traffic signals and cameras across the district were not functioning properly and so she took immediate decision regarding the replacement of the equipment. There are totally 9 traffic signals in that 8 signals have been repaird a month ago, the only one signals which is yet to be repaired is that Fingerpost junction but repair work is going on.Apart from the signals the Nilgiri police have replaced around 22 CCTV cameras most of which had not been functional for few months.CCTv cameras are most important equipment which is highly helpful in finding out the traffic violations,crime offense and also in dealing with law and order issues.Nilgiri police department reported that everything is taken care of all over the city there wont be any repaired signals and CCTV hereafter.
