Adam’s Fountain in Ooty

Adam’s fountain is a public display fountain which is located in Charring cross Ooty. It was built in the year 1886 as a memorial to the Governor of Ooty who was very famous during that time period. The full cost of the fountain is between 13,000 to 14,000 which was given as a fund from the public. First of all this founatain was orginally planned to be placed near the Ooty markrt then it decided to place it before the the District collectors office in Ooty were lot of people will pass by. After the construction of the fountain the water was not properly functioning along the sides then they thought of changing the location in Charring cross in 1898. Melonoxylon tree was considered as the landmark in the Charring cross was removed for the construction purpose.As the fountain is located at the most important places in Ooty it is considered tourist landmark in Ooty town.
