Nilgiri tahr are very treat to watch but these endangered wild mountain goats found only in the high altitudes of western ghats. Scientist has discovered that Nilgiri tahrs could be losing their footing with increasing climate change under moderate scenario of future climate change it could cause 60% of their habitats from 2030s. Scientist tired to predict how climate change can affect tahr habitat by mapping tahr distribution and then using climatic factors of these location to trace out the place where tahr could survive in future climatic change. They found that tahr could be found strongly in Chinnar, Eravikulam and Parambikulam in kerala will still be stable habitats under the different climate change scenarios. They also mention that other regions including parts of Tamilnadu’s Kalakkad Mudanthurai Tiger Reserve and the wildlife sanctuaries could experience severe habitat loss in future approximately 60% . There are around 2500 tahrs left in the wild their population is samll and isolated make them local extinction shows decreasing trend as per the International Union for Conservation of Nature.
