Avalanche the name derived from huge landslide that occurred in the region in the early 1800. Avalanche lake is the important must-see destination in Nilgiris District, it is situated 28kilometers from Ooty. The lake is surrounded by a rolling of landscapes with blooming flowers etc. Tourists can enjoy the lake through winding paths around the lake. Tourist can engage them-selves in trout fishing. The lake is also utilized by vacationers as a camp site where they can pitch tents near the lake.
