Heritage museum was recently opened in Ooty which could provide the detail information about the iconic Nilgiri Mountain Railway( NMR ).P.Satheesh Saravanan station director of coimbatore inaugurated the ceremony.He declared that lot of passengers come to Ooty too will enjoy a chance to see some of the equipment that has been used by the railways which could contribute to the tremendous spetacle that is the mountain railway.He also stated that depending on the public response,there were plans to expand the museum which includes a lot of railway items.Some of the gadgets featured in the museum are 22 antique pieces of equipment used by the railways which were 100-years of old including gas lamps,pinion wheels ,ticket tubes and even latrines.Out of the 22 pieces of equipment on show most have been recovered after their use from the railway stations between Mettupalayam and Ooty ,while some of the equipment like token pouch ,made of cane ,are still in use today.visitors are free to enter museum also has variety of photographs on display right from the earliest years since the inception of NMR.
