The architect of the Government Botanical garden in Ooty,William G Mclver was remembered on his 142nd death anniversary on Friday.The collector of Nilgiri J Innocent Divya placed a memorial on the tomb of Mclver which is found in the St,Stephen’s Church among the citizens of Horiculture Department.In the early 2009 Venugopal Dharmalingam the administrator of Nilgiri Documentation Centre discovered the tomb of Mclver, ever since then The Horiculture Department has been Paying respect to the architect of the world popular Ooty garden.In 1947 governor of madras started off a move to form a public garden in Ooty therefore in the year 1848 Mclver was trained and brought up to Ooty to build the eye-catching garden and he constructed in the year 1867.So he was remembered by every one in Ooty gardens.
